Tips for safe online shopping
Online shopping is becoming more and more popular. People from all over the world shop online daily. You can tell by yourself that the online shopping market is huge. This means that there's a lot of room for scam online stores. And there is a lot of them. Scam online stores lure you in with amazing prices and deals that seem too good to be true. And in reality, they aren't true
But not a lot of people know how to differentiate a scam online store and a good deal. That is why I decided to give you some tips for safe online shopping. As someone who shops online most of the time, I've gathered a few tips and I'm going to share them with You.
Research the website
Before you even proceed to put in your credit card information, you must make sure that you do proper research on the website. Google search the name of the website or the online store. This is going to help you find any reviews written about it. If there aren't any reviews at all, that could also be a bad sign. And you definitely don't want to be the first one to get burned by this flame. Luckily, there's plenty of online stores that sell similar or same products. You'll most likely manage to find another one that sells the same product. But make sure you research that one too!
Don't stick to just one store
Continuing where I left off. You shouldn't stick to just one online store that sells the product you want. There are millions of stores online and surely few more of them sell the product you want. Checking multiple online stores also allows you to compare prices. And comparing prices comes in handy both when you want to save some money and when you are checking to see if the store is legitimate or not. As I mentioned in the beginning, fake online stores usually lure people in with good deals and amazing prices. If you see that most stores sell the product you want around a similar price point and just one has a significantly lower price, it might be a good idea to click away. My experience shows that this is the way most people get scammed when shopping online.
Free item, just pay the shipping is a myth
Let's be honest, why would anyone give away something for free to big numbers of people? When you see an item that you just have to pay shipping for, you most likely won't receive what you expected to receive. In some cases, you might not even receive anything. If you like the item that comes with that offer, you'll most likely be able to find it in another store at the same price. Just don't forget to research that store as well.
Have a special card for shopping online
No matter how safe and famous the online store is, you never know what could happen. This is why having a separate card for online shopping is a must. This is a card where you'll transfer money to when you want to buy something online. Luckily, we live in a day and age where this process doesn't last a long time. Doing this is going to keep you and your credit card information safe. And if anything bad ends up happening, you won't lose a lot of money.
Check if returns and refunds are possible
The one thing you must always do when online shopping is checking if the seller offers returns or refunds. This means that you can return the product and get your money back if you don't receive the product or you're not satisfied with it. This plays a very important role when you are trying to figure out if the store is reliable or not.
Check the stores' social media
Social media is a big part of our society. And most online stores that are reliable also have social media accounts. These accounts are mean for marketing and appealing to influencers. And if a store doesn't have a social media account or it just seems like there's no effort put into it, you should stay away. Everyone knows that social media is the best way to spread the word about what you are selling. And if the store is reliable and true, this is exactly what they would want to do.
